What the tale is about
The Cave of Hira on Mount Nur in Makkah becomes the setting for the first revelation of the Qur’an. On the 27th night of Ramadan in 610, Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, brings Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) the command to “Read” and recites the first five verses of Surah Al-Alaq. Children learn why the surah is also called Iqra, along with its 19 verses and place as number 96 in the Qur’an. They also hear how Abu Jahl’s attempt to stop prayer fails, while the surah gently connects reading, knowledge, worship, humility, and closeness to Allah.
