What the tale is about
A man who has killed ninety-nine people is overcome by regret and searches for someone who can tell him whether his repentance may be accepted. After anger leads him to kill one more person, a compassionate scholar gives him hope and urges him to leave his wicked surroundings for a place where devoted people worship Allah. The man sincerely begins the journey, but dies before arriving. As the angels of mercy and punishment consider his fate, they discover that he is closer to the land of mercy. This moving tale shows how sincere repentance can lead toward Allah’s mercy, hope, and peace.
