Fasting for Children
Ramazan Masalları3 minages 3-8
Fasting teaches patience, gratitude, generosity, helping people in need, and appreciation for the blessings Allah provides.
What the tale is about
During Ramadan, children discover iftar, one of the fasting person’s happiest moments. The Prophet (peace be upon him) explains the joy of breaking the fast and the greater joy connected with seeing its reward when meeting one’s Lord. At the call to prayer, he would break his fast promptly, preferably with a fresh date, then a dried date or a few sips of water, and recite an iftar prayer. Around meals such as warm pide, dates, and other foods, children learn patience, gratitude for Allah’s blessings, helping people in need, and sharing with everyone. They are invited to memorize the prayer and its meaning.
