What the tale is about

Four-and-a-half-year-old Zeynep watches her home change when Ramadan begins: no one eats or drinks during the day, families wait for the evening call to prayer, and the house fills with iftar, prayers, and joyful visits. Unsure why everyone behaves differently, she imagines Ramadan and fasting as two kind uncles, then mixes up the Night of Qadr, Arafah, and the holiday. She observes Qur’an gatherings and mosque celebrations while missing her older brother Salih. When he returns for the holiday and explains everything, Zeynep turns her funny discoveries into a diary and learns how Ramadan encourages truth, worship, and goodness.
